There
are a few different kinds of fire fighter helmets. Some
are geared more towards presentation while others are
meant to protect the wearer from the extreme conditions
they are bound to face in the line of duty. The helmets
come in differing styles of protection and some come
with goggles to protect whoever is wearing it from any
debris.
Fire fighter helmets come in all shapes, sizes and
colors. Most all of them are designed with the same
purpose in mind--protection. However, some of these
helmets are intended more for official business
presentation use than for actual wear in the line of
duty. Instances that would require a presentation helmet
and not a protection one would be ceremonies and other
official meetings.
The helmet has to properly work in the event that a fire
fighter enters an area of extreme heat and flying
debris. The human head is one of the important parts of
the body. It is equally critical to offer a sustained
form of protection for this area of a fire fighter's
body.
There are many ways in which a fire fighter protects
himself or herself. Whether it be by wearing the heavy
suit that keeps their skin safe from the fire's extreme
heat or a helmet that is meant to protect the face and
head of a fire fighter from any debris they might face
in an emergency. Ultimately, there is no such thing as
too much preparation. The helmet is only one part of
this preparation.
