Newborn
clothing can be adorable and fussy. There are a few
things that are necessities, however. New parents should
keep a couple things in mind when shopping for infant
clothing. Babies grow quickly, and it is better to buy
smaller than larger. While it is easy to indulge because
every little thing is absolutely adorable, parents
should not buy too many things because new babies are
likely to grow too quickly to wear everything.
While it is inevitable that new parents will have an
extra frilly dress or a cute sweater vest, there are a
few basic things parents of newborns should have to make
life simpler. First of all, the new baby needs to come
home from the hospital in comfortable, warm clothing. A
one-piece outfit is ideal, and parents should consider
having a hat and sweater as well as a blanket.
For life at home, parents definitely need a package of
onesies. These short-sleeved T-shirts snap at the crotch
and provide an extra lining of clothing when going out,
or a comfortable shirt to lay around in. Coveralls, or
one-piece body suits, are also necessities. I recommend
having five or six of them so there is one for almost
every day. Versatile and comfortable, these coveralls
can be worn to lounge in and go out.
Other necessities when shopping for newborn clothing
include a couple of sweaters (more for a winter baby),
two or three gowns, and socks. The important thing to
remember is that Baby will grow quickly, so parents
should resist the urge to "stock up" on the same size.
It is better for the little one to be in a size too big
than too small.
